Level 1 CIEH Course

Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene
Rigorous enforcement of food hygiene legislation is important but it is not, in itself, sufficient to prevent food poisoning. Food poisoning is normally caused by negligence or ignorance and consequently most experts in food hygiene believe that a reduction in the high level of food poisoning cases will only be achieved by the education of food handlers. The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health has designed its Foundation courses to give first tier workers an appreciation of the fundamentals of good food hygiene practice.

Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene Update
Both the Food Standards Agency and the 'Industry Guides to Good Hygiene Practice' endorse refresher training. As such the CIEH recommend refresher training every three years and has developed a new CIEH Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene Update refresher qualification to help food handlers update their knowledge and comply with best practice in a cost-effective and efficient manner. This course includes H.A.C.C.P.

What it Intails
It is a statutory requirement to train staff in food hygiene matters. Proper training benefits both you and your staff. Staff will benefit from personal development. Employers will benefit because well-trained staff consistently perform better and more effectively. Members of staff who handle and prepare high-risk food are required to obtain the Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.

Training encourages owners and staff to adopt efficient, cleaner, safer practices and explains the reason they are necessary.
